Johnny Russell
Johnny Russell was born in Roundaway, Mississippi. His early musical influences were Roy Acuff, Ernest Tubb and Lefty Frizzel. He and his family moved to Fresno, California when his was twelve. It was there that he became active in music, entering and winning talent contests. As Russell's musical career progressed, he began performing in clubs and on package shows. A prolific songwriter even then, he recorded and charted one of his songs, "In a Mansion Stands My Love" at age 18.

Johnny's million-selling classics have been recorded by everyone from Dolly Parton to Burl Ives to the Beatles.

Johnny Russell is a comedian whose quick wit and rapid-fire humor delights audiences throughout the United States and Europe. He is a stimulating storyteller whose gift of speech and improvisation makes him a much sought after guest and host on television talk shows, game shows and radio programs. Johnny's song "Act Naturally," recorded by Buck Owens catapulted both men into national prominence.

In 1971, Russell moved back to Nashville to pursue his recording career in earnest. Chet Atkins signed the singer to an RCA recording contract that year.

As a songwriter, Russell's most prominent achievement is the celebrated song, "Act Naturally." The tune, has, to date, sold in excess of 20 million copies. Some of his other songs are: "Makin' Plans," "Lets Fall to Pieces Together," "Got No Reason for Going Home," and "The Only Fire That Burns."
